Valerie Fasold

Board President

Valerie loves to give back to the community in any capacity whenever she can. She is excited to serve on the DOVE board. With her prior board and professional experiences, Valerie hopes to bring an unique insight to the board. She is honored to be part of an organization that empowers their Deaf and Hard of Hearing victims and survivors.

While Valerie’s roots are in Missouri (Go Cards!), Colorado became her home. She enjoys all the outdoor activities Colorado offers. If the weather is not good, Valerie make modern quilts, some of which are donated to DOVE victims/survivors.

Kali Janda

Board Secretary

Kali is thrilled to be a part of the DOVE Board of Directors! She has a deep passion and respect for DOVE, for their empowerment of survivors, and for their commitment to community growth. Kali has been involved in various clubs and organizations over the years, so she brings her experience with planning, fundraising, and networking to the DOVE Board. It is an honor for Kali to be a part of an organization that provides such incredible services to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community in Colorado.

Kali is a Colorado native to the core! She enjoys running, traveling, and spending time with her family, friends, and Chihuahuas!

Holly Bise

Board Treasurer

Holly volunteered with DOVE for several years before deciding she wanted to give more time and energy to such an important organization. She joined the Board in 2013 and now serves as Board Treasurer. Holly is the Relay Program Administrator for the State of Colorado. Working and partnering with the Deaf and hard of community in her professional and personal time is something Holly truly enjoys.

Holly is originally from Texas but considers Colorado her home now. The activities and beauty in this state are never-ending; which is perfect for her highly active Husky named Denver. Holly is proud to be part of an organization that works tirelessly to ensure that domestic violence and sexual assault services are available to Deaf and hard of hearing folks throughout the state!

Rachel Blake

Board Member

Rachel has long been passionate and involved within the DV field, since her senior year in high school. During her undergraduate years at Gallaudet, she spent an internship at DAWN in Washington, DC, and when she lived in Austin, TX years later, she was a volunteer as well as a Board member with SafePlace Deaf Services (now known as Deaf SHARE). She also performed on stage twice with The Vagina Monologues (under Eve Ensler’s global organization V-Day). Rachel is excited to have landed in Colorado as of late 2019 and to continue giving back to the Deaf community by serving as a Board member for DOVE, using her interpersonal and community building skills. Rachel loved to travel a lot back then, and is now settled as a Mama of two young children while working as a Birth and Postpartum Doula on the side. She looks forward to sharing empowerment and building relationships with the local community!

Brian Carter

Board Member

Brian is proud and honored to have the opportunity to participate on the DOVE Board of Directors. He recently moved to Colorado from Baltimore, MD to pursue his Medical Doctorate at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, and is looking forward to growing with and serving his new community. Brian hopes to utilize some of his past professional and board member experiences to contribute to the ongoing implementation of DOVE’s mission. Likewise, he looks forward to the opportunity to learn from the DOVE community and carry these lessons with him into his future medical career. When he’s not busy being a student, Brian enjoys playing music, as well as exploring all that Colorado has to offer, including hiking, running, skiing, and climbing.
